Belgian filmfest screens Iranian films

The 33rd edition of the Mons International Love Film Festival in Belgium has scheduled to screen two movies by Iranian filmmakers.

The Belgian event, running until February 17, is screening ‘Daughter’ by Reza Mirkarimi and ‘Apricot Groves’ by Pourya Heidari-Ureh.

Mirkarimi’s ‘Daughter’, competing at the European Competition section of the festival, tells the story of a young girl who leaves her hometown in south of Iran for a half day trip to Tehran.

She starts her trip without permission of his strict father to attend a close friend's goodbye party, but in her way back, foggy weather changes all she planned.

Heidari’s ‘Apricot Groves’ tells the story of Aram, an Iranian-Armenian youth who immigrated to the US in his childhood and returns to Armenia for the first time to marry an Armenian friend he met and lived with in the US.

However, he sees many cultural, religious and national differences on his trip, but more difficult obstacles lie ahead.

Launched in 1984, the Mons International Film Festival (French: Festival international du film d'amour de Mons, FIFA) is an annual film festival held in Mons, Belgium.
